Endless vulcanized belt or open belt cut to length: which should I order?
Direct answer: If you have a vulcanizing press, materials and trained operators on site, open belt cut to length gives you flexibility and a lower unit cost. If you do not, order the belt factory-vulcanized endless: the joint is made under controlled temperature and pressure and inspected before shipping, and your fitters only have to fit a ready ring.

When open belt cut to length makes sense
- You operate your own vulcanizing press and your crew splices belts regularly.
- Belt lengths change often: different machine sizes or frequent width and length adjustments.
- A splice kit for the specific belt type is available, and storage conditions for the uncured material are under control.
- You want to hold one roll of belt in stock and cut every replacement to the length needed that day.

When a factory-vulcanized endless belt wins
- No press or trained splicing crew in your plant, and downtime is expensive.
- The joint carries high tension or passes over small pulleys, where joint quality decides belt life.
- You want every replacement belt identical, with the same joint position and quality each time.
- The belt is small-pitch or narrow, where an on-site splice is harder to execute cleanly.

| Factor | Open belt cut to length | Factory-vulcanized endless |
|---|---|---|
| Joint quality | Depends on on-site conditions and crew skill | Made and inspected under controlled conditions |
| Downtime | Splicing time adds to the stop | Belt arrives ready to fit |
| Flexibility | Any length from one stock roll | Each length ordered separately |
| Unit cost | Lower belt cost, higher labour and equipment | Higher belt cost, minimal labour |
| Best for | Plants with splicing equipment and volume | Plants without press access or with costly stops |
Middle path: we can also supply open belt with the ends prepared (step or finger layout) so your on-site press only has to complete the cure, or factory-vulcanize a first belt so you keep a proven reference length.
